Chemical waste kills over 20 lakh fish in Hyderabad lake
HYDERABAD: In a major environmental mishap early Thursday, chemical toxins from Khajipally Pharma industrial area kills around 23 lakh fish in Ganidgudem lake on the city outskirts. Out of 30 lakh fish, almost 70 per cent died due to chemicals released by pharma companies entering the 266 acre lake due to the recent rains.
Telangana PCB officials have preliminary confirmed chemical toxicity, lifted samples and inspected the industries.

Fisheries Cooperative Society says the loss would be more than two crores rupees as most of the Rohu species grown into 2kg to 8kg size.
